Why have I been M.I.A ?

. . .
I have been stuck here ….

… with Frenchie Le Boyfriend and my friend Matt, who is visiting from the US.

We figured the only way out was to drink our way out. I mean, it was a matter of survival … we have friends and family worried about us.

AHHHHHHH !!!!

We were stuck!!!!

Lost forever !!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!

and to make matters worse I accidentally blew my candle out….crap!

but then I remembered I had a flashlight on my phone and I used it to help us find our way out….then……we came across an old land line phone! We hoped it was still working…..it meant we were saved!!!

Then the receptionist at Chateau Marsannay picked up and said, “Ma’am, this is a business line for employees of the Chateau Marsannay. You were supposed to follow the arrows for the tour of the cellar.”

Oops! I don’t know where we strayed from the trail? I suppose it was when we found that secret room were there was a stage and we pretended to put on a play.

Or the endless barrels…

Or all the walls of bottles….

But the important part was, we were not lost. We found another arrow and found our way back to the tour. And we HAD to finish the tour because there was a wine tasting waiting for us! So off we went and finished up the great tour of the Chateau Marsannay..

and as promised, we tasted no less than 8 wines!

So with a nice little buzz goin’ on we finished with some photos!

Ok, I hope you enjoyed the story I created to go along with the photos we took. Hahaha! In all seriousness though, I do have a friend from high school, Matt, who was in Europe for a conference he was presenting at and so he decided he would pay me a visit in Dijon. I really think it was more for the wine that he came down here, but I like to think I was the first reason =P

Matt and I were in marching band together and totally nerded it up by both graduating at the top of our high school classes in 2002 (for me) and 2003 (for him). Brain powers unite!!!

In any case, Frenchie Le Boyfriend and I have been spending the last few days showing Matt around Dijon.

Of course the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy….

Showing him the famous Burgundian style roof tops…

Place Rude ….

My new car…..

The medieval style housing ….

The famous Dijon Mustard!

Our version of the Arc de Triomphe….aka Porte Guillaume.

The regional cheese!

French delicacies of Foie Gras and Duck’s Gizzards

Of course he had to try the famous french drink called “KIR” which was invented here in Dijon… it is a mixture of Aligote (type of white wine from here in Burgundy) and creme de cassis (currant liqueur)….depending on the region in France though, the type of white wine used in making Kir will change for a regional white wine and other flavors of liqueur can be used…but he had to try the original Kir from Dijon with Aligote and Creme de Cassis.

And naturally everything we do has to involve Burgundian wine!

Now you know why I have been M.I.A. =D

Don’t worry, I will be back to my VS blogging very soon …. I am STILL going over my adventures ProWein so the next entry will be on day #2 I spent at ProWein tasting old world wines!

Matt is leaving for Paris tomorrow =( … So let’s all wish him a big VS style Bon Voyage!

Vinously Speaking & Vinously Yours,
The Ceci Sipper
